The expression “breakdancing” is considered by some pioneers to be a misnomer for the term “bboy”.  A bboy or  “break” boy is the correct term to describe a practitioner of this dance.   

This page is wholly committed to the unique and distinctive manipulators of their kinespheres… bboys and bgirls.  We will use this page to post upcoming competitions, workshops, ciphers, and classes in the Raleigh area for bboys, bgirls and hip hop dancers.

Bboy and Bgirl Fundamentals

This class is designed to introduce dancers to the basics of Breakin’. We will introduce students to top rock, footwork, and freeze basics (basic breaking vocabulary, ex: Indian step, 6 step 4 step, baby freeze, shuffles, etc). For intermediate dancers, we will provide a sequence of patterns and drills to work on independently.  The series will run for the month of February (February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. The class will be approximately 45 minutes of instruction, followed by a 15 minute guided practice.  This series will be taught by Juan Matta.  Open to ages 4+ . Cost: $50 for the series or $15 per class.

Shamrock Bboy/Bgirl Competition


Shamrock is back!  This edition will be a 2 vs 2  format along with a popping battle, with cash prizes totaling $400.  Hosted by Swoon Unit with DJ Spclgst, DJ Merlin and Nicky Bags on the drums!  Judges to be announced. Come and enjoy watching the top bboys  and bgirls in the state.  $200 cash prize for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place. Plus a winner take all popping battle for $100   Admission:  $5 for 21 and up, $10 for under 21.
