The expression “breakdancing” is considered by some pioneers to be a misnomer for the term “bboy”. A bboy or ”break” boy is the correct term to describe a practitioner of this dance.

Shamrock Bboy Battle
A North Carolina tradition returns on Memorial Day Weekend. This will be a 1 vs 1 format. Come and watch as North Carolina’s top bboys and bgirls battle it out for $300 in cash prizes (1st place $200 & 2nd place $100). Hosted by Juan Matta, Swoon Unit & Mucho Rhythm Dance, with DJ SPCLGST! Admission: $5 over 21, $10 under 21. More details coming soon! We would love to do a popping battle, but last time that we offered one, only one popper signed up. Please post a comment if you’re interested and if we get at least 5 poppers then we will more than likely add a popping battle.

Bboy & Bgirl Fundamentals
John Galloway, a.k.a bboy exakt, member of Swoon Unit Crew, Battleholex and Raleigh Rockers has been ripping ciphers in NC and throughout the US for years. John recently took first place in the Shamrock Footwork Battle competing against many notorious North Carolina footwork specialists. Known for his sharp, stylish footwork and flavorful top-rock, Exakt will be introducing students to several toprock steps, drops (moves to get to the floor), footwork, freezes, transitions and power moves. This series will cover different combinations in each class.

Popping Fundamentals
Napoleon Wright, a.k.a. Sir Nap will be guiding students through the basics of Popping. Napolean is a seasoned veteran in the North Carolina Scene and a member of Raleigh Rockers. Rock Da House Workshop with Rob Nasty
Rob Nasty is a flying in from San Francisco to bless us with his rocking style. This workshop will be from basic to advanced focusing on Up-Rock and Top-Rock, including; timing, drops, jerks, burns, isolations, transitions, style foundations and incorporating hand styles. This will be the perfect workshop to draw inspiration and to help integrate rock styles with bboying!
